ADR Dangerous Goods Training Week: 2–6 November at Our Motherwell Centre

1. Get ready for your next ADR qualification

Need to transport dangerous goods as part of your driving work? Join Open Road Training Ltd for our ADR Dangerous Goods Driver Training Week, running Monday 2 November to Friday 6 November 2026 at our training centre in Motherwell.

Across five days, you’ll cover the Core, Packages, Tanks and specialist Classes modules before sitting your exam on Friday. Up to 28 hours of Driver CPC can be attached, subject to eligibility.

Our centre is at 29 Hope Street, Motherwell, ML1 1BS, conveniently opposite Motherwell train station. It’s easy to reach from Glasgow, Lanarkshire and across central Scotland. So if you’re looking for ADR Training Glasgow, ADR Training Scotland or ADR Training Motherwell, Motherwell is a handy place to train without adding a complicated journey to your week.

We’re a DVSA-approved ADR training body. Here’s how the week is planned.

2. Your five-day ADR Course programme

Day Module What you’ll cover
Monday 2 November Core The foundation module for everyone. It covers key areas such as dangerous goods transport rules, driver responsibilities, load security and protective equipment.
Tuesday 3 November Packages Training for drivers carrying dangerous goods in packages, including packaged goods, drums and IBCs.
Wednesday 4 November Tanks Training for drivers who need the tank module for tanker operations.
Thursday 5 November Classes The specialist classes day, covering the dangerous goods classes included in our course.
Friday 6 November Exam Day Your assessment day. A little exam-day flutter is normal; preparation is what helps you walk in ready.

The Core module is the starting point for every candidate. Packages and Tanks add the module relevant to how you carry dangerous goods, while the Classes day covers the specialist classes included in the course. The assessment takes place on Friday.

3. What does the course cover, and who is it for?

Our ADR Course covers Classes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9.

The course is for drivers who need the relevant ADR training and qualification to carry dangerous goods. If you’re unsure which modules match your work, get in touch before booking, and we can help you check.

Class 9 is particularly relevant if your work involves batteries. It covers lithium batteries, among other dangerous goods. That’s a useful reason for scrap and waste operators, and anyone carrying batteries, to keep their training up to date.

ADR 2027 introduces changes to the UN numbers for certain batteries installed in cargo transport units: UN 3536 will cover lithium-ion batteries, with separate entries for UN 3563 (lithium-metal) and UN 3564 (sodium-ion). This change applies only to batteries installed in cargo transport units, not every lithium battery. You can read more in our ADR 2027 lithium battery guide.

4. Course price and Driver CPC hours

The prices for this training are:

  • Full course: £559 all in
  • Refresher: £350. An option if your ADR certificate is due for renewal

ADR certificates last five years, so check your expiry date and plan ahead rather than discovering it at the least convenient moment.

If you’re also working towards your Driver CPC hours, you can attach up to 28 hours of Driver CPC to the ADR course, subject to eligibility. If you’re looking for a separate Driver CPC course, contact us to discuss what suits your requirements.

5. Why book your ADR Training now?

ADR 2027 comes into force on 1 January 2027. ADR 2025 can still be used during the transition period until 30 June 2027, with ADR 2027 mandatory from 1 July 2027. The new battery entries are one example of why it’s worth keeping your dangerous goods knowledge current.

There’s also a near-term UK training change to be aware of. The current remote-delivery authorisation, authorisation 1013, runs until 31 December 2026. It allows theory elements to be delivered remotely, but individual practical elements must be completed in person. Our November course is scheduled at our Motherwell centre, including its Friday exam day. You can check the official authorisation 1013 guidance for details.

6. Need Driver CPC as well?

We also run a full Driver CPC week at our Motherwell centre, Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm, with a different programme each day.

The programme includes company and public image and eco-driving on Monday; Fire Marshal and Health and Safety on Tuesday; Operator Licence Awareness Training (OLAT) on Wednesday; safe loading and roadside enforcement on Thursday; and vulnerable road users on Friday. Wednesday’s OLAT is suitable for both drivers and administrative staff.

That’s a separate week from the ADR course, but if you need Driver CPC training too, get in touch to discuss your options.

7. Book your place in Motherwell

Our ADR courses run every month, so if 2–6 November doesn’t suit, there will be another opportunity. But this is the November date, and you need to secure places in advance. Group bookings are welcome for employers arranging training for their drivers.

For an ADR Course Glasgow drivers can reach from the city, or an ADR Course Scotland option serving central Scotland, our Motherwell centre is conveniently opposite the train station.
