Our new brochure brings the answers together in one useful guide.
1. Download the Open Road Training Ltd brochure
You can now download the Open Road Training Ltd Expert Transport & Logistics Training Solutions brochure as a PDF.
The brochure provides an overview of our training solutions for professional drivers, transport managers, operator licence holders, consignors, businesses and logistics teams.
Our focus is simple:

You can save the PDF, share it with colleagues or use it when discussing your organisation’s training requirements. No rummaging through a drawer for a mystery leaflet required.
2. What training does the brochure cover?
The brochure highlights the main training areas available from Open Road Training Ltd.
2.1 Transport Manager and Operator Licence training
If you are responsible for transport operations, operator licence compliance or transport management, the brochure outlines several options:
- One-day Operator Licence awareness courses
- Two-day Transport Manager refresher courses
- Two-day compliance training courses
- Three-day combined OLAT and compliance training courses
- Home Study Transport Manager CPC courses with an online exam
- Full 10-day Transport Manager CPC courses, including exams at our training centre
The combined OLAT and compliance courses are suitable for office and administrative staff, as well as Restricted Operator Licence holders.
These courses are designed to help you understand your responsibilities and support effective management of transport operations.
2.2 Transport Manager refresher training
Has your Transport Manager completed refresher training in the last five years?
The brochure explains the importance of keeping suitable CPD evidence. Statutory Document 3 states that, where it has been some time since CPD was undertaken, the starting point for evidence is completion of a two-day Transport Manager CPC refresher course.
The Senior Traffic Commissioner states that Transport Managers should be prepared to provide CPD evidence in several situations, including:
- When applying initially, where CPD has not been specified within five years or qualifications are more than 10 years old
- When applying for additional licences or reduced operating hours
- When renewing an operator’s licence
- At a Public Inquiry, to show continuous and effective management
The brochure includes this message because refresher training is not simply about collecting another certificate. It is about being able to demonstrate that your knowledge remains current when it matters.

3. Driver CPC training for road haulage and passenger transport
Driver CPC remains an important part of professional driver development.
The brochure highlights our full range of comprehensive Driver CPC courses, available at our premises or at your place of work.
Our Driver CPC training is suitable for:
- Road haulage operations
- Passenger transport operations
- Individual professional drivers
- Fleet operators
- Businesses arranging group training
With more than 16 Driver CPC modules to choose from, you can select training that is relevant to your drivers and your operation.
Topics can be arranged around the needs of your team, helping you plan periodic training without treating every driver as if they do exactly the same job. They do not, thankfully. The realities of a passenger transport operation and a road haulage fleet are not always identical.
If you are also a driver attending in person, the brochure explains that we can allocate up to seven hours of Driver CPC for every day attended, up to a maximum of 35 hours.
Driver CPC arrangements, available modules and allocated hours should always be confirmed with us when booking.

4. Dangerous Goods training
Open Road Training Ltd is a DVSA-approved ADR Training Body.
The brochure includes our dangerous goods training services for people involved in the transport, handling and management of dangerous goods.
We offer:
- ADR dangerous goods driver training courses
- DGSA courses
- Dangerous goods consignor courses
- Security of dangerous goods courses
The right course will depend on your role and responsibilities. A driver, consignor and DGSA may all work with dangerous goods, but they do not necessarily need the same training.
If you are unsure which course applies to you or your team, contact us before booking. We can discuss your requirements and point you towards the appropriate option.
5. A convenient training centre in Motherwell
Our training centre is located at:
Open Road Training Ltd
29 Hope Street
Motherwell
ML1 1BS
The centre is conveniently located opposite Motherwell train station, making it easier for learners to attend from across the surrounding area.
The brochure front cover includes a photograph of the centre, along with our contact information and the main training areas we provide.
For companies, we can also discuss training at your place of work where appropriate. This can be useful when several members of your team need to attend and you want to minimise disruption to your operation.
6. Recognised training and accreditations
The brochure also shows the organisations and bodies connected with our training provision and recognition:
- DVSA Approved ADR Training Body
- Driver CPC approved consortium member of JAUPT
- NLTC Qualifications
- Ofqual regulated
- RADAT Approved Training Provider
- Skills and Education Group Awards Recognised Centre
These recognitions are important because they help you identify a training provider with relevant industry approval and experience.

7. How can you find available course dates?
The brochure gives you an overview of our training services. For current availability, published course dates and booking information, visit our Course Dates page.
Dates, course availability, prices and Driver CPC allocations can change. Please confirm the current details with Open Road Training Ltd before making arrangements or booking.
If the course or date you need is not listed, contact us directly. We may still be able to help with your requirements or discuss an alternative arrangement.
